Their work often blurs distinctions between craft, art, illustration and graphics, utilizing both the digital and handmade.In this two day workshop you will enjoy a special opportunity: a double dose of Susy Pilgrim Waters and Sarajo Frieden's combined experience as artists, illlustrators and designers. Learn firsthand the strategies two successful artists have developed to continue evolving in their work.In this workshop we will:Play!Take a hands on approach using a variety of media: drawing, painting, collage, monoprints, found objects, layering, sewing, personal memorabiliaUse warm-up sessions and explore the value of keeping a sketchbook of loose daily drawingCreate for the sheer fun of itCultivate a beginner's mind, or freshen up a jaded one!!We will share strategies for getting unstuck and over hurdles. cant belief it walked in to crate &barrel..some designs just keep morphing.....there even a monochromatic mushroom of mine on a tea towel...some are royalties , some not.

Have just completed an assignment for selvedge magazine.Its a niche English textile beautifully produced mag. Will beout till October...all about the history of Judges clothes..turns out its from the 14th century....wow.I was asked to do a self portrait for the contributes page..had fun.This is how i was feeling the other day.

The only off shoot so far has been an honorarium invite to the University of South Dakota to give a talk!

My husband keith waters and I have just finished a huge production .
OVER sized 30 x18) trays with multifunctional purpose.
Years ago i found some antique bread `prooving` trays at Broomfield fair.
I painted then, decorated a few and have them hanging round the house, they are very useful for
serving dinner out side, having a buffet table . supper on your lap. storage, holding papers ...and when not in use really really pretty propped up against the wall.People always comment on them....positively!

We decided to you a dot design with some pw textures.Getting the screens was a very hard process, but after many attempts we did succeed to have them exposed . Keith spent 2 days sanding the wood elements we had made in vermont.( Finding jeff the cabinet maker was a quest unto its self!!) the sides are poplar and the base in baltic ply. We then had to mix the ink colours very very carefully, adding just tiny half a teaspoon at a time of pigment to the special inks we were using.It was challenging but of course , curiously satisfyingly!
we managed to print 32 whole surfaces, both sides of the sides, one screen for the bottom, then keith in freezing temperatures lacquered them with waterbased varnish.THEN he had to glue and nail them!!!!
LABOUR intensive....

They will be for sale in our shop.$215 plus tax +shipping.
UNIQUE hand made, stylish, and a base is in production!!

lady coming out of the new Louis on the waterfront and decided to make it again.
This time its 100 %organic cotton , 19w x16 h x 4g.A delicous denim blue dye, with shimmering silver boulders printed both sides.
Its 10 0z cotton with a nice drape.I take canvas bags everywhere.I think this one has legs.....

A new chance for me to be more edgy. working on a book cover with barely any understanding of the content.Bring it on.
I am just showing my processing here, and then the final result.
I am totally able/willing/wanting to work on stuff that pushes me to the edge.
Sharp design is critical.I am awee bit surprized that the edges dont bleed all round.But I LOVE the fold out cover with that sneaky chair sitting there looking abit smug!
If i could speak Italian i would be able to find out why not.
Silvana Amato is a very classy designer.A very close collaborator with Angela Ligouri.

My favorite restaurant and place to go with friends and family is this restaurant.owned by my dear dear friend Siobhan Carew,(319 hanover street..it best to make a reservation 617 367 4348)I have known and worked with her for the last 16 years. Her newly renovated restaurant was a bit sterile for Siobhan,she asked me to splash about a bit I went in and added dove grey guaze, natural linen, copper highlights, chalky lines, abstract nebulous spheres and textures, mushroom coloured blocks.I asked photographer mimi bernardin to come and photograph the space so we can create the business cards and stuff needed to complete the wonder of POM.

At last we have them made.i have found a great person to work with on the project.there are a few kinks to work out , but the reaction so far is AMAZING. each one is unique , hand made of gorgeous leather , with cotton webbing straps , a cell/purse pocket. Limited edtion numbers written inside. All available in my shop!
